Ants and Bedbugs

Ants

Ants are a numerous species, ingressing the building structure easily and appearing everywhere during the early summer months, nest control should be carried out before the mating swarms appear in late summer. Ants are considered a nuisance pest rather than a disease carrier.

Bedbugs

Bedbugs are an increasingly common occurrence in social housing, hotels, bed and breakfast accommodation and even residential houses owing to the increase in travel and social interaction of an increasingly cosmopolitan human population. Feeding entirely on warm blooded creatures in the night hours their bites are not necessarily noticeable for two to three days allowing infestations to go unnoticed for a long period of time. Once identified infestations can be difficult to eradicate due to their habitations, general tenacity and the ability to survive for long periods of time without food.

Ants are among the most advanced of all insects, and all ant species are social. Their nests are usually underground and, except when we disturb nests in the garden or inadvertently picnic near one, we do not see much of the occupants.

Once a year, however, the ants to go on their marriage flights and all the ant nests in the neighbourhood seem to erupt at the same time, providing a feast for birds and sending the house occupants scurrying to the shop for ant killer or on the phone to their local pest control company.
